  1. Ok. This question is messed up. First of all, the PS3 dosen't get the the red ring of death. The Xbox 360 does. The ps3's light is red when ever it's off. The ps3 dosen't break commonly enough to have it's own death sign. The 360 does. Second of all, there's no core or premium systems. They differ it only by Gigabytes on the the hard drive. The third thing is, you can't afford 2 systems. The new a 80GB ps3 that can't play ps2 games is coming out soon, and it costs $399. you need $799 to purchase two systems. You only have $600. There is currently no news on when exactly it will be out, but they do have the 80GB MGS4 bundle for $499 or the 40GB ps3 for $399.

  2. send your ps3 in for repair.  They will take care of it... it seems to be a waste to buy a new one and not get your origninal fixed.  hard drive size can always be changed.  there is no difference between the 60 and 80 gig systems other than 20 extra gig.

  3. superman says it all

and beside the 60gb is way better than the new new 80gb that is pretty much a 40gb i would pay the 50-100 dollars and get it fixed and with the extra 500dollars buy a new 80 gb that way you have a 60gb and a new new 80 gb

  4. The 80gb core systems are already coming out. Apparently Sony has told the retailers to sell them whenever they get their shipment in. Some stores will have them now (although very few), and more will be coming in the next few weeks.

The new 80gb core models do not have PS2 backwards compatibility (technically they aren't called "core," but its an easy way to describe the difference between the old 80gb and the new 80gb).
