But in summer its usually between 21:00 (9pm) and 22:00 (10pm).

I guess you were watching 'Rock Am Ring' in Nürburg - where the sunset is about 21:35.

As noted, because of the latitude, the sun sets late in the evening during the spring and even moreso during the summer months.

Of course, this also means that Germany experiences a pretty dark winter, as well, with sunsets between 1600 and 1700 for three or so months!
