When I was a student in Passau the official starting date was Oct 1st, but classes started always on Nov 2nd.

The actual start varies from state to state and sometimes even from one university to the other. The official date is usually September 1st or October 1st, even though that doesn'nt necessarily mean that's when classes start. A quick google search came up with a handful of actual starting dates, so you may have to phone the actual uni to find out.

i think it's october 1st although lessons in most universities start around october 15th
