When doing a 3 point turn or paralell parking do u use your mirros the whole time or your back window?

Iam going to take my drivers test.Some pepole tell me that you just use your mirrors and other peepolae say you use your mirrors and back window when doing a 3 point turn or paralell parking.So do i use my mirrors only? or both mirrors and rear window.Thier really picky about passing you thats why iam asking this.

What ever way you feel more comfortable.  I prefer looking out the windows but when I drive my cube van I have to use the mirrors

Before you start out, make sure that they are adjusted properly - a slight overlay of the rear-view mirror...This will reduce blind spots...Tilt the outside mirrors down just a bit so you can see the pavement...Don't forget to use the turn indicator before you start either maneuver...For either turn you will use the rear view plus the side view mirror on the side you are turning to...Also, backup cameras are not allowed during a driving test - you gotta turn the old noggin.

Well, you will fail if you just use your mirrors because you are not looking where you are going!

You need to read the Highway Code which tells you to reverse slowly, whilst checking all around and looking MAINLY through the back window.

Use your mirrors fleetingly as a guide to your position only.

Great question.  The correct answer is you turn your head and not use the mirror, however,  as a better driver and experience (example semi trucks don't have a back window or rear view mirror) it's easier to judge with your side mirrors.

Don't you think it's a pretty good idea to actually look in the direction you are going? Of course you look out of the back window if you are going backwards.

Try driving forwards by looking backwards and using mirrors on your back parcel shelf. How many people would you kill in the attempt?

Using mirrors alone to reverse is lethal, mirrors have blind spots.
