Are you allowed to go a bit forward when your in position after reversing into the space? like in order to get a bit closer to the vehicle in front, or do you just have to reverse in and leave it at that?

  1. no you can move it forwards no problem you can move it as much as you want until your happy with it:) just always make sure you check your mirrors x

  2. of  course you can!

  3. Well really you should be able to do a parallel park in one attempt - although if you mis judge it you are allowed to shunt - but you will only be allowed to shunt more than once if you are considered to be making reasonable progress - if you are just going backwards and forwards and getting further away or not making the situation then you will probably fail if it is not in an acceptable position.

Don't wanna sound mean but to be fair - you shouldn't be going in for your test if you can't do a parallel park in one go, and need to adjust it - you want the examiner to see how good you are at driving after all - good luck when you take test :)

  4. You have to reverse in so that the car is no more than a car length away. If it's further away you can't pull forward. Parallel parking doesn't come up in the uk driving test That much now. You'll nearly always get reversing round a corner, and either a turn in the road, or reversing into a bay and sometimes the emergency stop, although I took three tests and never got this one.

  5. no you can adjust it back and forth as much as you like, it would be virtually impossible not to do it that way

  6. Moving forward to correct is allowed.

However, you must at no stage reverse more than 2 car lengths behind the target vehicle.

You should also be able to move away after the manoever without having to reverse first.

  7. You can adjust.

  8. you are not actually expected to achieve a perfect position simply by reversing in and moving forward to correct is  allowed. if  you shunt back and forth  etc though it will be classed as a fail as you did not show enough competence in that manoeuvre.

practise and  it will be easier and should be possible in 2-3 moves only with an ideal ( expert) of straight in and no corrections.
