  1. breastmilk or formula for the first year. as far as food goes- it is now recommended to wait 6 months to introduce solids but some pediatricians will tell parents to introduce them as early as 4 months. the best website i've found is www.wholesomebabyfoods.com. it lists the signs with babies are ready for food, what to do for constipation, diarhea, and other problems you'll encounter when starting solids. it also says what foods to introduce by how many months old they are.

  2. the current recommendation of feeding your baby "solids" is after 6 months.  Still the baby's main nurishment comes from breastmilk or formula until 1 year.  then you can switch to whole milk.

  3. Usually around the 6 mos mark they start w/ solids. Some babies start a little bit sooner b/c formula or breat milk doesn't fill them up enough. Try gentle things at first, like fruits. See how well their little systems handle them (i.e. diarreha, vomiting, etc.) and then a month or so later, you can start introducing them to veggies. When they get a good amount of teeth, you can do the pureed meals like mac & cheese, chicken noodle soup, etc.

  4. It is best to breastfeed your baby, if at all possible.  If it's not possible for you to breastfeed, then baby gets formula for a full year.

Solids are normally started at around 6 months. (THough some out-of-date sources still recommend starting and 4 months.)  You can also, if you chose, wait even longer to start solids.  They are just for fun until baby is around a year old, with breastmilk or formula providing all baby's needs until then.

These are pretty basic questions. I would recommend picking up a good babycare book or two.

  5. Usually at 6 months you can start introducing food and/or infant cereal.  When I fed my kids baby food I would do fruit for breakfast, veggie for lunch, and meat for dinner.  But at first all you should try is either fruit all at once or veggies.  I had two different pediatricians with my 2 kids and they both contradicted one another so when you pick out your pediatrician you can talk to them about it.  They will let you know when to do everything.   Also they should stay on formula until they are one year old.

  6. I started giving my daughter rice in her bottle at 3 months but not every bottle mainly at night cause it helped her sleep longer (which is always good for mommy) I started giving jar food at 5 months. I breastfed my daughter for the 1st 3 months but they are on formula till 1st birthday then you give them whole milk and then at 2 your supposed to switch to 2% or at least thats what wic told me and my little girl likes it just like whole milk the switch was easy.

  7. Babies should be exclusively breastfeed for the first six months, at least.

No formula is needed. God gave you b*****s. Please use them.

  8. We started Gerber first foods at six months.

  9. The AAP recommends no solid foods/baby foods until 6 months but some doctors will tell you to as early as 4 months (cereal).  Formula or breast milk should be their primary food source for the first year.

  10. IT IS PERFECTLY FINE TO USE FORMULA!!!! You want to give them formula for the whole first year, the babies body cannot digest cows milk before then. Also, babies more susceptible to allergies should wait until 6 months to start solids, otherwise 4-5 months is ok. You will also want to check the list of other foods babies should not have before the first year. Oh and dont give them anything mixed with their formula, it causes them to over eat and can make it harder to teach them to eat on their own. congrats and good luck!

  11. my son is 6 months old. he is an all the way formula fed baby. i started rice cereal at 3 months and baby food around 4 months, but he only just now started eating jar food 3x a day.

my son is a big boy though, so the doc. wanted him to eat more. it's personal choice really.
