  1. it is illegal to undertake (overtaking in the left lane). the highway code states that you can only pass a vehicle on the left if you are in a one way street or if you are in queueing traffic and your lane (left lane) is moving quicker than the right lane.


  2. Ireland as a simple motoring policy, pity we don't do the same. They display all there documents on the screen, ie: Tax, Insurance and M.O.T. They even make it easy for faster moving vehicles to maintain there speed by having slow moving lanes on the near side. These are there for slower moving vehicles to pull over into, without altering there speed, and allowing faster moving vehicles to over take without having to pull out. This is then followed by the slower vehicle returning into its normal lane of travel. This can only be achieved safely when road users obey the rules, hence the nearside is not for overtaking.
