When entering Canada do they run a check on everyone's drivers license or just the driver?

Everyone who enters Canada must be properly admitted, not just the driver of the car.  All passengers would also need to provide proper documentation.

They will check everyone's ID.  They do more than just look at it these days.  If everyone is a US citizen, they can all enter Canada by showing their government issued photo IDs such as drivers' licenses and their birth certificates - as long as no one has a criminal record.  If there is a criminal record, even a DUI, the person cannot enter Canada.

They will ask for everyone's ID, not just the driver...often they just read it and hand it back.
