  1. thats how it works, if your going to play or are playing in the nhl you cant touch the cup till you win it

  2. yes it is a superstition in alot of players that you dont touch it until you win it  Ryan Millers Brother Drew won it in 07 with Anaheim and Ryan said that when his brother got it for the day that he woldnt touch it there is even a picture of them and Ryan's face is like ok  I am not touching it

  3. Jordon should have touched it when he got the chance - he'll never touch it the rest of his career....

  4. In an interview with Ken Daniels early in the Finals, Steve Yzerman actually expressed his displeasure with Lidstrom about not lifting the Campbell Trophy.  Yzerman raised it 4x proudly and the last three times Detroit went on to win the Cup.

  5. Gonch has the ideal answer, but this makes me think...Mario Lemieux hoisted the Prince of Wales!!

"a traditional superstition that is prevalent among many of today's NHL players is that no player should either touch or hoist the Wales Trophy (or the Western Conference's trophy, the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl) when they have won the conference playoffs as the Eastern Conference champions. Players feel that the Stanley Cup is the only true championship trophy and thus it should be the only trophy that should be hoisted."

    s***w superstitions lol.

  6. It's a superstition thing that all hockey players do.

  7. I'd say Jordan will win about 4...  Mario did it because he was Mario.  A God.  Le Mieux = The Best.  Lemieux didn't practice, ate potato chips, drank wine and still was the best.

  8. It's a superstition which is prevalent among today's NHL players is that no player should touch the Cup itself until his team has rightfully won the Cup. Adding to this superstition is some players' choice to neither touch nor hoist the conference trophies (Clarence S. Campbell Bowl and Prince of Wales Trophy) when these series have been won; the players feel that the Stanley Cup is the true championship trophy, and only it should be hoisted
