When estimating property tax, is the asking price the value price of the home?

  1. Property taxes are based on appraised property value (appraisal done by tax assessor's office). If you want to estimate your potential taxes then just use the asking price.


  2. They are based on the appraised price, but a lot of times the appraiser will just appraise the house at the selling price, so I would think for estimation purposes, either the asking price could be used or the price that you intend to actually offer.

  3. It is not related to the asking price, it will be set at the selling price, so you use that to figure out the tax, how much you are buying it for.
