When *exactly* do federal gov't employees get paid?

I started an internship at a Veterans Hospital a few weeks ago. I know I'm to be paid today (friday). My payment is done via direct deposit.

Does anyone know *exactly* what time I'm supposed to be paid? 12am? 8am? 4pm?

I ask because I really need gas in the morning, and I'm hoping my debit card will have more on it than the $4.80 it has right now lol.

  1. Your payroll unit will do a FedWire transfer overnight 2-3 days before.  But the money will not appear in your account until your bank verifies the transfer and posts it to your account.  Some banks may actually post the deposit right after midnight on your payday, so the money is available at the start of the business day.  Most will not post it until shortly after the start of the business day (8:00 a.m.)

  2. matters on whats your pay rate is. Minimum wage to about 450,000 that's the range.

  3. Usually, federal money posts early in the AM.  How early, not sure.  You shoud check your balance before you use your card.
