When faced with peer, society, school pressure to conform, how do you react?

I just listen politely to their rationale, I thank them then I tell them why I behave as I do.  Most times the guys just shake their heads and walk away but some call me names.  But hey, I am comfortable with myself and besides, I don't follow anyone or groups like sheep do.

I practice good manners and excuse myself from the area. I exercise discretion in what I tell others.

Conform to what.  If we have bad laws, you should not conform (blacks refusing to ride in the back of the bus)

Women were not able to vote.  We should not just sit there and let bad laws continue.
