  1. You know, it's really a hard question to answer.

It all depends on why you're doing it, what your religion is... ETC

If you're doing it for a specific religion with a specific holiday or whatever in mind, then consult a pastor/preacher/priest/person. Or hey, there's even the internet...

You see though, fasting is about giving up something to show your gratitude for God in religious meaning (Or to grow closer to God, or show what you're willing to sacrifice... ECT), or whatever it is you worship. Some people do it for health to.

You don't have to completely give up food and water, or just food. Some people give up one thing they adore to eat. For instance, my Catholic friend gave up cookies when a holiday came that they had to fast- which lasted a few months. She gave up cookies because she absolutely loves them. My dad fasted once, he gave up all solids, he did this in order to grow closer to God.

It really depends on your reasons or religion.

For health benefit people tend to give up everything for awhile in order to clean their systems/body of everything.

If you go to google and type in define:fasting a lot of definitions come up. Or here....

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=def...

Anyways, it shows different points of view. Some are from a dictionary's stand point, or a religion's. Check it out...

    Edit-

I'm thinking you need to make that decision on your own. If you just looked it up before asking...

You need to figure this out on your own unless it's a church thing-  but hey, even then it's your decision. Not the church's.

  2. Fasting means no eating so unless you can absorb it another way, then no.

  3. NO duh. when you fast it means you cant eat anything

  4. Only if you're at the movies. There's a law that says you must eat popcorn in movie theaters.

  5. No, you can't.  Sorry. Popcorn is food.

  6. Don't ever think about it, because the main purpose and intention of fasting is already lost

  9. There are several types of fasts:

Complete fasting: No food or water for a period.

Partial fasting: Eating less than you desire and to simply avoid hunger.

Vruti Sankshep: Limiting the number of food items eaten.

Rasa Parityag: Giving up favourite foods.

  10. only H20 and nothing else or it's not fasting.....

  11. NO Fasting means NO FOOD.

  12. Nothing but water or liquids from what I understand

  14. I'm afraid it isn't all right, unless what you're doing isn't fully fasting and just abstinence from certain things. And even then it can only be plain popcorn, buttered is definitely not appropriate for fasting.

  15. Popcorn is a plant. So I'd assume so. You could ask your religious leader if you're still unsure

  16. I do not believe so

  17. What's the religion, mostly fasting is not eating anything unless it's a specific fast like from fish etc.

  18. You can't eat popcorn if you're fasting.

The whole point of fasting is to not eat..but depending on the religion you can eat fish or like the bare minimum of food. & Popcorn is definately not a necessity. :)

  19. If you eat something, you're not fasting.
