When ferrets nails grow out can they really climb trees like a squirrel. can you teach a ferret to swim.

Ferrets are domestic animals. Unless you're planning to keep a ferret on a harness and keep a close eye on it I'd not recommend letting it play outside. Once the ferret wanders off, it can be hard to get ahold of them again... and ferrets really can't survive in the wild alone.

Now then. Ferrets can swim instinctually, though most ferrets I've owned dislike water. One loves it, though. Ferrets can climb quite well if their nails aren't trimmed, and they prove that by getting into pretty high places inside the house. Again, I'd not recommend letting them climb trees.
