  1. I am assuming that you are asking in Australia, so if a speeding fine is sent out, it is assumed that the letter has been received by the recipient, much as in Centrelink letters. A test case was mounted, a few years ago and the acknowledgement was made, because the letters are sent in batches.

    If you are not in Australia, then I am sorry - what I said is not correct.


  2. A ticket may be mailed certified, with a receipt requested, or through regular mail. If that is ignored, they will serve you in person, and the service fee may be added to the court costs. Ignoring the letter will only delay court, and will probably increase your costs.
