is always cuttered and a wall size bookshelf that is perpetually in disarray. Today I have the day off and want to make the room shine. What's your best advice? Besides getting off the computer!

  1. The first thing I would do is get rid of all dirty clothes lying around and hang up any others that need to be put away, Then change your bedding and then vacume or clean the floors. Then you can have a clear view of your shelving and desk and see what needs to be organized. You might want to get rid of all items that havn't been used in the past year on your desk and shelving, put the items in a container and store in the garage or basement. Dust and polish furniture. That should do it.

  2. I make a list of the things that need tidying and cleaning then I go downstairs and tell my wife to get on with it.

  3. First, get a trash bag and get rid of all the things that you haven't used in 6 months. Put away everything else(in there own place) and start in one spot and go from there. Have fun.Keep it that way.You won't have to do this again.

  4. I would start with just the desk. Take EVERYTHING off of it and place in a bin, THROWING away stuff that is trash as you clear it. Once the desk is cleared, give it a good cleaning with a furniture cleaner. Dust any thing you would put back on like lamp, pictures, nick nacks. Rearrange your desk. EMPTY the trash bin. Start on the shelving unit and do the same. Then tackle any clothes piles. Strip your bed and put fresh linens.

Get a long handle duster like Swiffer and swiffer your walls and doors. Then vaccuum or sweep & mop.

  5. Set up a bin for recycling and go to task on that desk and bookshelf! I am always amazed at the amount of unneccessary papers (envelopes, catalogues, mailers, magazines, etc) add up in my house. Set aside a "to be filed" pile, and an "action item" pile. File papers, and put "action item" pieces in a central location to act on later.

Create a seperate pile of books you no longer want, and put then in a box, so you can easily drop them off for donation at the local library.

Clear off desk and shelves entirely, and dust within an inch of their lives.

Replace books from tallest to smallest. If extra space on top of desk or on shelves, fill with (1) a candle or two and (2) a pretty house plant.

Put as many things into desk drawers as humanly possible.

If you attack your two problem areas with gusto, the rest of the work will seem minimal (make the bed and clear out dirty laundry. Joila!)

  6. Start from the top (ceiling ,fan, aircond)

Next to wall (fixtures & fittings, windows too)

Next to the furniture(bed, wardrobe, desk..etc)

    Then Floor( sweeping, rubbish,mopping)

    Put some air freshener...

That's it your room groom well....

  7. Start by sorting out dirty clothes. That clears alto of space in my room. Then Get rid of rubbish and then pick up books, Games e.c.t.

  8. The closet is first, pull everything out and sort the things that you no longer wear or use, put those in bags for donations, next are the drawers do the same as the closet, next strip the bed down and wash all, take curtains and blinds down , wash window, wash walls and wood work , dust off the light bulbs , and last do the floors . and now I need a break, don't you?

  9. Start with the biggest pieces. It's best for your motivation. This way the progress is visible the quickest.

  10. First thing I would is use your laundry basket to round objects on floor, bed and all over your room. Next you will need to vacum the carpet. Dust the wood with future polish "pledge" and if you have ceiling fan make sure to turn off by pulling the chain and cleaning around the light fixer with glass cleaner

Wash your dirty clothes and put way clean clothes.
