just curious cause my boyfriend is going to be doing that. Do you generally get to pick where you are going to be or is it all up for chance all over the world. and could you be in any country? How often would you get reassigned?

  1. Okay, they have this form they give you in School.  I forget the actual form number, because everyone just calls it a "Dream Sheet" (can you tell where this is going?).  You get to check from a list of bases you would like to be sent to.  There is also a "Volunteer for Overseas Duty" or "CONUS Only"  (Continental U.S.) box.

The purpose of this piece of paper has been debated for generations, as once assignments are made, it is obvious no one ever reads them, and assignments are completely random.

    Welcome to the Army.

    LOL

  2. You will be placed by the needs of the military.

  3. Well, quite honestly, they tell you that you can choose... and at first, you may be able to, but if they eventually decide to place you somewhere else, they will.  They say that for convenience... to get people to join.  They will relocate him as often as they like.  Be careful with the military... you always need to be sure to read the VERY fine print.

  4. I'm pretty sure you get to pick 3 states that you want to be stationed in but it depends on what he is doing on where he is placed. You rarely get to go to any of the 3 you chose. It's really just a ploy to make you think you're going somewhere you want.

  5. He will be able to give input on where he would like to go but as far as where he ends up doesn't always match that. He is assigned according to the needs of the Army.

It really depends on what field he is going to be a warrant officer in.
