  1. I would dress as if I was going to the beach, swimmers, flippers. sunnies, hat, and of course yr bucket and spade becaause there will be lots of sand to play with

  2. ..depends on how you will be traveling and with who.

..Sticking with light cotton, cargo pants, etc. similar travel attire will be a safe bet, check the weather channel for the monthly average.. will give you a better idea....But definitely take warm clothes (we just through a pair of sweat pants, 1 pair of thick socks, a long sleeved t-shirt and a sweatshirt or jumper for the evening ...obviously a hat...

Just a hint pack your clothes in ziploc (plastic sandwich bags) ..prevents the sand from getting into everything and it does... especially if your camping....

  3. Your first thought would be shorts. NO-NO. The sun burns. Get yourself some very thin long sleeved clothes. For night time I would recomend some winter clothing since the temp does fall below 0'C. A hat and not a cap is also a good idea.

The arabs did not make their clothes the way theuy are for no reson

  4. Although shorts are probably a good idea for the beach, please remember that it gets very hot and very cold in the Sahara Desert.

i would suggest wearing jeans, T-shirt and hat.  It may be hot, but jeans will save you from sunburn.  Take lots of sunscreen and water.

  5. There are many qualifiers to this.  Where are you going?  When are you going?  With whom and with what equipment?

I returned from the Malian Sahara just two months ago.

I recommend a skirt that goes below your knees and is breezy.  A loose shirt with 3/4 sleeves or a t-shirt but not a tank top.  In most Saharan countries it is appropriate to not show your knees or shoulders.

For men - loose slacks and a t-shirt.

Sturdy sandals are probably the best bet.  I was worried about the safety of my feet and so wore closed-toe shoes but that was too much.  Sandals are fine.

    Wear a hat.

Other responders are right, it can get cold so hopefully you are traveling in such a manner as to be in a nice tent at night or in a rooming house.

  6. Any thing light and cotton make sure you have sleeves too to avoid sunburn. as well as trousers to avoid msquitos or scorpion bites.

take a cap or a turban would be wise.

    salam
