When going to a new dojo do you wear you white belt and your other gi?

if you just started a new style of martial arts and you already have a gi from another style even if its a different color would you wear that and your white belt or whould you just wear normal clothes?

  1. Normal clothes and purchase one of their uniforms (unless it comes with registration).


  2. It depends on the school.  Some schools are very strict and will expect you to wear the correct gi and a white belt, even if you've studied that style elsewhere.

    Some schools are just the opposite and will let you wear your old gi and even belt.

  3. Ask your new teacher before you take your first class.

    In some schools, the same gi is an indication of starting from the same point.

    In other schools it may just be something to provide lapels to grab in order to throw partner.

    If the teacher allows you to wear your old gi, you should remove all emblems from the old martial art and/or school.

  4. Definately normal clothes, no belt

  5. normal clothes to your first class and talk to your sensei/teacher after about it.
