I have yet to work in South America as a teacher, but I have been an EFL teacher for about 8 years in Asia.  I found one website that has a little outdated info for you: http://www.cactustefl.com/jobs/TEFL/chil...

The British guardian also put out an interesting article for Chile in 2002.

One word of advice though.  Some Chile recruiters may actually try to charge you to find a job.  Approach them with extreme caution.
