My wee piggy is pregnant, i can see and feel her babies moving and wriggling! She is pretty big.

She was in with two males for last two weeks in May and first two weeks in June!

when should she be having her babies? She is inside now with her female friend.

  1. It will probably be in the next couple weeks, but it will vary on her litter size and other factors. Gestation period can range 59 to 73 days.

These sites can tell you more:

  2. It's a shame you are breeding. Hopefully your sow and the babies don't die.

  3. Guineapigs are pregnant for anything between 56 and 71 days and because you can her see her babies moving she shouldn't be long at all. It's hard to tell the exact time she will have them as there was 4 weeks in which she could of got pregnant and they are all pregnant different lengths of time. If she is about to have her babies she should start making a nest with things in her cage such as newspaper and hay and if it get's wrecked through another Guineapig or cleaning the cage she may build another one and about a couple days before she won't move around much. They usually have them at night so by the time you wake up one morning she would probably of had them problem free.

Check this out and ot get the book from the library to read up on what to do if anything goes wrong (which is unlikely in her first litter)

BTW!! I wouldn't reccomend breeding her again because they are prone to complications in her second litter as there pelvis is tighter.

    Hope this helps!

  4. I think gestation period for GPs is 3 months

  5. Shouldnt Be Long.

Make Sure She Is Away From The Males Because If The Young Are Born Whilst With Males The Males Tend To Eat The Young.

My Guinea Pig Was Pregnant With 3 And We Took Her To The Vet To Ask How Long It Would Be Until She Gave Birth And They Said She Would Have Them That Night But She Didnt Have Them Til About 6/7 Days Later.... They Were Cute... There Born With A Body Full Of Fur And There Eyes Open!. Keep Them Inside Now And You Might Want To Take Her Away From The Other Female Closer To The Time Of Birth As The Mother Will Need Space And Time To Give Birth To Them All Alive And Break There Sacks Open!

  6. its about 10 weeks.  the babies come quickly ...these animals are better than rabbits at procreating and the males ..as early as 3 months can get a female pregnant.

keep males in separate cages from each other. and unless you want your guinea pregnant soon after she gives birth, you should separate the male out also.  giving birth with other females near is fine really and they are helpful usually.

the guinea females do have a pecking order...oldest being the top gal and the underlings will find their place, so there may be some little spats but that is normal.  they wont hurt each other.  however, the males will try to kill each other if they are near females in estrous or not.   the baby males should be separated out at about 2 mos of age.
