  1. Yes. But it ultimately depends on how you got the ball to spin. In setting you always want a little back spin on it to help control its flight pattern.

  2. Yes it is legal from the deffenders but not from the Passers hand.

  3. no it is not officially illegal rather a tell tale sign that there was a two touch contact on the ball when it was being set. They do look for it so minimize your spin.

  4. No, it just means thaty you didn't get all of your fingers on the ball, but it is illegal to set it below your head.

  5. Yes and no.  No it is not strictly illegal for the ball to spin coming out of a set, unless you're playing beach in which case you can carry the ball longer to take the spin off.  If a pass is spinning when it enters the hands, chances are it will be spinning when it exits unless you carry the ball.

What really matters is whether the ref is going to call it or not.  Most refs have a knee-jerk reaction to spin, they see it and they blow the whistle.  Unfortunately, you're likely to play with many bad refs throughout the years so get used to it.  Spin is not in itself illegal, but is often indicative of a double contact.  If the ball isn't spinning when it enters your hands, and spinning when it exits, it's a tell that your hands didn't contact or release the ball at the same time.

  6. anytime you set the ball, it's going to have some spin on it.  how fast and the direction of the spin can give away a double contact on your part, which is when the ref will call it.

  7. A spinning ball come out of a overhand pass does not mean its illegal.  It certainly looks ugly though.

A spinning ball is just an outcome of a "bad" set.  It does not nessesary be illegal.

Spinning is just an indication that the ball might not be handle perfectly.

A ball spinning sideway is more likely to be called "double contact" than a ball spin forward/backward related to the setter.

  8. well if the ref thinks it looks like a carry then he will call it so cup ur hands like a spring and push outward

  9. Well yes it is to go over the net.

  10. Of course it is illegal for the ball to come spinning out of your hands when setting. Plus it isn't a correct set. The ball should not be spinning at all.

  11. most of the time, no. refs can tell if its a double hit by the way the ball spins. try to fix it so it doesnt spin when it comes out of your hands because the refs will not give you the benefit of the doubt; if it looks like it MAY be a double hit by the spin of the ball they will call it, even if you didnt really touch it twice.

    good luck.

    10 points pleaseeeee!

  12. no it's not illegal because it's not considered carrying

  13. It is not supposed to be judged by spin.  However, it usually is.

Ball handling is supposed to be judged strictly on the legality of the contact or contacts.
