  1. White blood cells fight infection :-)

  2. Not sure if this is 100% correct, but i'll give it a shot :)

Your body has various diffent ways of fighting intrusions to the body. First of all it has physical barriers such as skin, and membranes, to selectively allow certain things in and out.

In the case of a wound, this physical barrier has been broken allowing the unknown entity in.

Blood is one of the major helpers in the fight against bacteria. Your blood is made of red and white blood cells, and platelets.  Platelets group together to cover the wound, preventing more bacteria from entering. White blood cells will often eat them up (Macrophages) or sometimes just fight invader cells one on one. These are called lyphocytes. Much in the same way blood cannot be transfered to another person if their blood types do not match, so too bacteria will often be rejected due to cells known as antigens. Looking up any of these words may help you to understand.

  10. Bacteria and viruses (our primary enemies) are the organisms most often responsible for attacking our bodies.

Most bacteria are free living, while others live in or on other organisms, including humans. Unfortunately, many bacteria that have human hosts produce toxins (poisons) that damage the body. Not all bacteria are harmful, though. Some are neutral and many are even desirable as they fulfill important functions in the body.

Bacteria are complete organisms that reproduce by cell division. Viruses, on the other hand, cannot reproduce on their own. They need a host cell. They hijack body cells of humans or other species, and trick them into producing new viruses that can then invade other cells. Frequently, the host cell is destroyed during the process.

In daily life we might speak of viruses, bacteria, and toxins. However, when reading about the immune system you'll often come across the words antigen and pathogen. An antigen is a foreign substance that triggers a reaction from the immune system. Antigens are often found on the surfaces of bacteria and viruses.

  11. your brain senses that there is a foreign bacteria in the area of your wound. it sends its own bacteria to fight it via blood stream, but a lot of the time it does not possess the proper bacteria and the body is invaded and overtaken by the new bacteria traveling through the bloodstream soon affecting all parts of the body.
