Mccain says he can. Is history on his side? Which Republican presidents have fixed the economy in the past, especially after a crisis?

  1. Hey fool, the unemployment rate right now is better with Bush than it ever was under Clinton. Clinton's unemployment never got under 5.5% while Bush' never went over!

  2. Repubs try to balance the budget and demos come up with creative programs that cost the government more money.  It's an endless cycle because congress is a mixed bag of both repubs and demos.  And if you think that's bad, how would you like it if congress was totally one way or the other?  There would be no balance and then either the repubs or the demos would absolutely rule, and you know that ain't right!

  3. Presidents can not "fix" the economy. After a recession the economy recovers but then lays the seeds for the next downturn and government policy can extend or shorten the good period between recessions. Here is a long term view of the US economy and looking at it you can see how silly the such claims are http://www.visualizingeconomics.com/2008...

  4. kejjer are we forgetting about the deficit going down before 06, the whole the war he started, and not the mention the tax break to company's shipping jobs over seas wow who's the one that has the short one sided memory now??!

  5. Reagan after the Carter "stagflation" fiasco.

    Inflation dropped

    Unemployment dropped

Taxes were lowered yet government revenue was higher

The median house hold income increased

    etc etc.

As for FDR, the country benifitted greatly from WWII in an economic sense, so it wasn't FDR's socialist "New Deal" policies, in fact top economists say FDR's policies prolonged the great depression.

  6. most people reap the reward of the president before them the reason the us sucks a now is because Bill Clinton was before Bush.  Republicans save the US from becoming moronized.  Democrates strangle the future... Although Bush is a r****d also.

  7. Never. It's always sunk into a recession after 2 terms.

Between Big Bush and Ronald Regan, they messed up the economy almost as much as Little bush - without a war.

Clinton then Put the money back in our pockets.

  8. If McCain says he can why hasn't he given advice to Bush the last 8 years?

  9. Regan and yes even evil Bush got us out of a recession after 9/11.

Name a democrat that ever fixed the economy, don't say FDR, WWII got us out of that little recession more than any of his New Deal policies, which drastically increased the power of the Federal Government.

  10. Don't listen to what Mccain say, he wants to maintain the status quo of the traditional conservatives and continues the Iraq war. What damages of the 8 years of Bush's administration. Are you aware that his running mate in TV was the so called Yankee Daddy. Yankees were described of war-liked US northerners during the American civil war. Needless to say McCain is a warlord. He is as evil as the Hong Kong heartless and thoughtless and merciless fascist chief executive, Donald Tsang Yum-kuen. I established a curse to Donald Tsang Drop Dead coalition and my flat is the headquarter for the past two years.

America was once dipped into the severe stagflation of inflation plus unemployment and no household income in progress, Regan was did it right. We can't trust the Republican anymore for the military movement, stock markets and funds and housing bubbles scams for making a false booming making the poor and rich gap widened and affected many lower and middle income families. Please don't give the Republican and Donald Tsang another chance to ruin our world.

  11. The only one I can think of is FDR that helped America get out of the Republican Great Depression of the 30's...same causes of our current crises. Reagan screwed us just as bad as the early 20th century robber barons did. Corruption, borrowing and spendingClinton's first years were just used to pay down the debt. Even Carter made inroads on paying off Republican's debts.

Some people don't realize that impacts to the general economy aren't apparent immediately after the poor decisions on government deregulations are made. It takes a few years of runaway spending before it affects the value of the dollar.

Education and a free press are the most important attributes of a Democracy! Without them you have an elite bunch of crooks feeding malarky to the distracted citizens who are too busy working to notice much until we are in deep doodoo...

Hopefully, Obama has the cojones and can get the support of enough people to lesson the negative impacts of what will be a very ugly period in our history.

Our future is much, much bleaker than people realize. There will be water wars sonn. They are already starting. Energy issues will hit crises levels because of the oil and auto industries lobbyiig efforts of the last 30 years. Germany, Brazil and many of the Scandinavian countries are much better equipped to face the needs of an over polluted and compromised environment.

The US is broke! Our government is and so are most of our citizens. I cannot figure out why Obama would want to preside over such a horrific time. McCain is an ambitious neer-do-well. His future is short anyway so his interests are not aligned with ours.

    FDR.

  12. GW Bush after 9/11.

    Wow what a short memory.

everything was great right up until The democrats won the house and senate--then it went to c**p.

    Go figure.

  13. that never happens
