I have to get laughing gas and an IV sedation . . How are those going to feel?

Also, I heard when the surgery is over, you wake up in the recovery room. . . How do they get you to a recovery room??

  1. I don't know why they would need to give you laughing gas if they are giving you sedation, but I was given IV sedation and don't remember anything.  Once they put it in the IV, I was out and yes I woke up in the recovery room and I have no idea how I got there.  But I was so out of it at that point that I never thought to ask.

  2. with iv sedation you aren't completely asleep and the gas is mostly clean oxygen.  i just had something done and i had to get those too.  when they put the iv in it might pinch a little like a shot but then its fine and the sedation med. might make your arm hurt just a little when it goes into your system but then everything is fine and nothing hurts.

  3. My surgeon said he was giving me laughing gas but it felt like regular oxygen. It did nothing for me. And the IV is just like getting a tiny shot. Just a needle through the arm and the sedation starts. You won't feel anything besides the intial injection of the needle. You will literally fall asleep in less than a minute.

For me, I woke up in the same chair that I had my surgery. For some people, they are moved to a different room, but I'm not sure how.
