Me and my wife are having our first child and I'm wanting a boy. Naturally she is wanting a girl. I've heard that boys are easier the first time having kids. I'm sure its normal for men to be a little scared about having a daughter. After all, I undertand men, as I am one. Girls, I don't think girls even understand girls, men certainly don't.

  1. Brian,

Every child (whether it is a boy or girl) is different.  The personality of the child can make it easier or harder on you as a parent.  Please be aware of that FIRST.

Some differences that make it harder or easier to raise boys vs. girls would involve clothing options, extra curricular activities, etc.  Boys can be more active than girls, but I have seen girls who are more active than their brothers.

Both are blessings...you will need to experience it to appreciate the differences but both are wonderful.

  2. idk.  I have a boy and a girl.  It's WAY faster to get my little man out of the house than it is for my daughter.  But I'm african american so it takes a while longer to do hair on a little girl!!!  I can't just brush and go or brush up in a ponytail and go.  I can't even wash, condition, and go.  Each child is different though.  It depends on their personality.  Both of my children are pretty mellow.  They get allong together great too, but I'm lucky...for now at least.  They are still young.

  3. I had three boys and then girl so I can only tell you about having a boy first. Most men want a boy first so they can do all the little boy thing like play baseball, take them fishing etc......but I can tell you that most girls are daddys little girls. There is a special bond between a little girl and her daddy.

Don't be afraid of having a little girl.

  4. not sure which is best first,,,i had BOTH ,,yes boy/girl twins.  in my experience there isnt an "easier" one.  my son had chronic ear infections,,,my daughter had acid reflux.  my son slept easily my daughter was a 3minute cat nap junkie.  every baby is different, and every baby will have their own "rules"  i dont think it has ANYTHING to do with gender.

  5. Every child can be difficult or angelic. The s*x isn't really a big deal.

We have 5 boys, and my Husband has ALWAYS wanted a little girl. Not to say he doesn't want our boys, he just has always wanted a Daddy's Girl.

None of my boys are alike. They are all different now, as they were as babies.

I giggled at your reasons. I have always wanted son's - I don't understand girls & I am one!! lol

  6. It is natural for a woman to want a little girl and a man to want a little boy. When I was pregnant with my oldest everyone told me I was having a little boy I was so upset because I new deep down that it was a girl and I really wanted a girl. I found out at 28 weeks that it was a little girl my husband and I were very excited. One I was pregnant with my second child my husband was like it's a boy and I keep telling him no you are wrong it's a girl. Well at 18 weeks we found out we are having  a little girl she will me 1 on Sunday and our oldest is 4. They are daddy's little girls.

I also run and in home day care and I have to say boys have there bad side and so do girls. There are times girls are better behaved than boys and there are times boys are better behaved than girls. I love my girls and would not trade them for the world!! Congratulations and good luck!!

  7. As a girl, I agree we are confusing. But as the parents of both, my husband and I are surprised at how well we get along with the opposite gender kids. The kids have learned that when they need to ask a really important question or want something special to ask the opposite gender parent. What is mystifying in strangers is charming in your own kids, especially if you take the time to be there for them.
