  1. Yes...they have to check that you are licenced to drive the type of vehicle you are hiring.....

    Insurance purposes...

  2. IN some countries they do, in others they don't.

I remember a Carrabean location where a photocopy was all required....

In EU, US, Canada I know they check, and even make a copy of your licence for their records.

  3. in canada you will need a driver's licence  and might have to pay more for the insurance under the first time drivers law

  4. Generally they do - certainly the car hire places I've used in the States, Greece, Spain and France have done. I'm sure there are some dodgy hire places that don't care to check though.

  5. this is one of the very first things they check, without a valid drivers license you cant hire a car.  if they give you a car and you dont have a valid license, they could get into trouble in cases where you might make an accident due to their neglegence.  rather get a valid one before you get into trouble with the local police also, because they can ask you for the license and will fine you and the company heavily if it is expired.

  6. yes they do

  7. They should, If they don't you may not be insured.

  8. yes they are very strict and they will check that the drivers license is valid...if you dont have one get one....

  9. If the license you are using has an expired date on it, they will more than likely see that date.  If, you are using a license with a valid date, they will not check.  There is no way they can possibly check up on these abroad.

  10. why do you suppose they ask for it? To laugh at your picture?

    OF COURSE they check it.

  11. I am not so sure. Look at Caprice, the model. She was banned in Britain for drunk driving and then was pictured a few days later in Spain, I think, driving a hired car

  12. why dont you have one
