When/how do you know you're family is complete?

How do you know when you are finished having children? I am pregnant with my 3rd (I have an 8 year old and a 16 month old) and I really think I don't want anymore kids.. but at the same time I think there's always a chance that your life circumstances may not be the same down the road and you may end up wanting another child down the road (even though i dont think i will.. just covering bases) otherwise I think 3 is all I can handle. But i'm due in November with the 3rd and need to make the decision to have my tubes tied or not. DH said if I don't, that he will have a vasectamy. How did you know you were done having children and how did you decide who was going to be the one to get "fixed"???

I've had people say if you have any doubts it means you arent ready- but I think even a person 99.9% sure they didn't want more would still feel a sense of "loss" in a sense... if that makes sense?

If you look at your family, new baby included, and you feel a sense of contentment, you've a complete family. I've heard that vasectomy can be reversed tho...

Just go for your husbands vasetomy, it's much easier to redo and a smaller operation too.

I've always wanted 3 kids---2 boys and 1 girl. I already have my two boys and I hope when the time comes I'll have a little girl. If it's another boy---I will be happy. At this moment---I think my family will be complete. If I do end up having another boy---I know I'll always want to try again for a girl but I don't think we could handle more than 3. I plan to have my 3rd (and last) child when I'm 26 or 27---but I still think thats too young to do anything permanent such as getting my tubes tied or my husband getting a vasectomy.

I guess we'll discuss it when the time comes. I know I will always want another baby, even when I'm done....but I think that's just part of being a woman and mother.

i dont think you should do it if you are having doubts..i got mine done after 3 kids and now i regret it..i want another one now and its going to cost me a lot of money to have one LOL..maybe you could get an IUD and then if you change your mind it will just be taken out..

ok ur done having kids when u and ur spouse dont want kids anymore. if i were u i wouldnt have my tubes tied because u never kno later down on the road u might still want kids but while u kno now that u dont then just use protection....u kno wut i mean

When your body tells you "no more" that's when you know. I have 3 now, and my body has said it. Maybe later, it might tell me something different, but as of now, we're done.
