Most people say oh you can't do that. You need to be really good. Then i thought i cant. But i really wanna be this when i grow up. But after everyone said this then i thought maybe i wont never get known. How would you get patients. Does your college help you get people? Is being a psychiatrist a good job?

  1. if you love it i bet you would be good at it, also think about employment be a psychiatrist for the army or something, that is what i want to do.

  2. So why do they think you can't be really good? First you go to medical school and residency. You are a medical doctor specialising in emotional and mental problems.

Universities don't really help doctors get patients. But it is not a matter of fame. If you are a qualified psychiatrist, with years of training, you list your name in directories of physicians. Other doctors call you when one of their patients needs to consult with you. People refer themselves.

Being a psychiatrist is a helpful thing. It is a good job and a lot of hard work. It requires a real commitment to helping people heal.

Think about why you want to do this. See if it matches up with the realities. Good grades, interest in the field, willingness and ability to work long hours. Is it what you really want? Are you compassionate? These are all very grown up questions.

You have plenty of time to explore. I hope you think about this and many other fields and be the best you can be.

  3. A psychiatrist is a great job. I want to be one too, I'm not anymore though, I don't like to be hypocritical, and me being one would be. I was also in the same situation where people said I can't be my alternative career choice (veterinarian). Don't listen to them. You can be anything you want. You don't have to be greatly known. You can get a job in a psychiatric ward at a hospital or in a building, they have buildings like that right? anyway som colleges do help you find jobs afterwards. but dont worry about finding patients and all that, if you want to do it, go for it.
