  1. probably a Ham Radio close to where you live. I would report this trouble to my phone company

  2. Bleeding over is probably referring to "cross-talk".

Cross-talk is common occurrence on phone cables (trunk lines) that carry many phone calls next to each other in one thick cable.  The wires are so close to each other that their signals can actually "bleed-over" (electromagnetically speaking) into nearby circuits.  Lines don't have to be shorted for this to occur - just close proximity.

Sometimes caused by poorly functioning circuits on the phone company lines.

If an ongoing problem, and is annoying you, call the phone company support technical services.

And, yes, sometimes it is nearby high power radio broadcast or ham radio signals getting into the phone lines, or your cordless phone.

If the problem is radio interference, sometimes you can install "low-pass" filters in the phone line to reduce the effects.

An extra DSL line filter may accomplish the same effect (worth a try if you can't find an RF Low Pass Filter for phone cords).  But, if the radio interference signals is getting in through the cordless phone antenna - you are out of luck.

  3. Its a pretty common ocurrance. Since most all phone companies have gone too digital switching (now that they have figured out that Booloean Algebra is the formula to make it function correctly) it has become less of a problem as closer frequencies can be isolated more securely than with the antiquated system of analog switching. It does still occur in certain areas in land lines and cell phones alike. Nothing you as a customer can do, except purcase a scrambler. With digital switching, if you can here them. they usually can't hear you, although, someone else you can't hear, may be able to hear you which is why it is never a good idea to discuss illegal or sensitive subjects over the telephone. It is not very difficult or expensive to buy equipment that will allow you to wirelessly listen to cell or landline conversations from up to 100 feet away. even with the newer cordless phones that switch frequencies, during conversations, the handset uses to communicate to the base.

  4. hey tready i like sunsetsuperman2112 answer he tell you what to do

  5. You could have a problem with some other persons line is shorting in to your line at the main box. Call your phone company and tell them you hear other peoples voices, on your line that is. They would have to fix that. Not you.. Bleeding over means two or more lines are ether touching or shorting together somehow. Weather its moisture or dust on the grid box.

  6. It sounds like your lines are crossed. There is a small grey box outside of your home or in your basement...it will say telephone network interface device on it...its ur test jack. If u have the same trouble when u plug a phone in that box, it means its an outside trouble and u do have to contact the phone co (most co. wont bill for outside troubles, they guarantee their dialtone to that box)

  7. Somewhere either a line is crossed or is otherwise bleeding over onto your circuit.

  8. You are picking up another line is all you need to move where you are sitting.
