When i change my laptop screen i know it has to be same make; does it have to be same model or just same size?

yes to all to make life easier

i have in the past taken the same size screens and put them in but they invariably differ very slightly, eg the mounting screws don't line up and so forth or the lcd inverter has had different connectors.

With regard to make, it won't have been made by the laptop maker in the first place
