when my husband and i get a place of our own it will be me him and 2 dogs a collie and a shih tzu but when i lived with my parents we had a cat which had lived with us since i was in kindergarten (14 years old now) and is still living back home with them and i miss her and i know i love cats and our dogs are used to cats as they have grown up with them but i am really thinking of bringing home older cats. for some reason i am more attracted to them when they have problems like blind or deaf or bone problems or something like that and i really want to bring one home and give it a great home because there are so many in there and most people would go after the healthy kitty. but I'm worried because what if the cat doesn't work out like it doesn't like our dogs or something, there is no way i would want to bring it back cause even if the cat was evil i wouldn't like to take it back i would feel bad. my question is do animal shelters let you interact with the cat in a room and maybe bring your dog in to see how they socialize? if not then how would i go about getting the cat used to the dogs?
