i have 2 baby robins. the younger one (Robin) i would guess to be 5-6 days old and the other one (Batman) to be around 7-8 days old. Batman is nearly a fledgling and i'm worried about the whole 'take it outside follow it around, give it more time outside' thing. i found their nest being attacked by a cat thursday and today is sunday. i havnt seen one robin around since. (dont tell me to call or find an animal shelter. trust me theres none around i spent 2 hours trying to find one and the nearest one wont come get the birdies) will the older robin run away or something once i bring him out?? im so worried. also he doesnt like the makeshift nest anymore and prefers to climb up me and sleep in my hand. robin still spends his time in the warm cozy makeshift nest and misses batman. when batman does stay in the nest he often moves away from robin even though robin tries to cuddle to him. its so sad! they are quite happy it seems, they are moist and plump. i feed them whenever they want.

  1. Baby robins need CONSTANT attention for the first couple weeks of their life. Keeping the animals means certian death, and very poor health if they do live. I know you have good intentions, so don't think this is down on you. But the babies both NEED to get to a licensed rehabilitator ASAP! You can find rehabilitators near you if you go to your state Department of Natural Resources website and search for Wildlife Rehabilitation.

A rehabilitator will expect you to bring the animals to them if at all possible, because they can't usually leave the animals they already have. But if you can't go to them, you can explain why and they will probably be able to come and get them.

Baby birds need to have their food to the exact consistency needed for their age because too watery or too hard causes major issues with their digestive health.

In the meantime, feed them pedialyte every 15-20 minutes while you contact a rehabilitator.

  2. yes about the cat food. i found a baby mocking bird once after a storm and it worked for me until i could reunite it with it's parents.

  3. Animal shelters do not take in wild birds...wildlife rehabilitators do.  You should not have these birds in your possession at all, it is illegal.    How do you know these birds were not being cared for by the parents?  Did you bother replacing them to see if the adults were still feeding them.  Have you checked this directory for a rehab:

You do not have the skills to teach these birds to survive in the wild..please try again to get them to an expert.
