  1. You've only had it for how long?  It's a generalization that "dwarfs" are aggressive.

A little info.....there are many dwarf breed rabbits - Jersey Wooly, Holland Lop, Britania Petite, Polish, Dwarf Hotot, Netherland Dwarf, American Fuzzy Lop, etc.  Some of those breeds are known for being nasty and others are well known for being incredibly calm, playful, and people loving.

It's like saying that Dobermans are mean dogs.  Sure, the breed as a whole may not be fabulous genetically and that may cause more than a few to not be real friendly but I've known Dobbies that are real dolls.

It's the same with the rabbit breeds.  Just like dogs, the over 47 breeds recognized by the ARBA (the AKC of the rabbit world) have different physical characteristics, care requirements, and, yes, temperaments.  I tell people to choose their rabbit breed like they were choosing a dog breed - do a fair amount of research first, buy from a reputable breeder, and don't buy from pet shops.

It is absolutely true that Netherland Dwarfs, Dwarf Hotots, Britania Petites, and Mini Satins are known for being biters and high strung.  I've only met one Netherland in my life that I trusted.

A note about pet store rabbits:  They are not all Netherland Dwarf rabbits.  They may be mutt rabbits or any breed of rabbit at all.  The pet store clerks will say they are "dwarfs" because they don't know anything about the rabbits they sell.  They've been told to say they are "dwarfs" (which could mean anything or nothing at all) because that is what people want to hear or because they think any small rabbit (even baby large breed rabbits) must be Netherland Dwarfs.  *rolls eyes*  Silly pet store clerks!

Forget about what the store clerk said (do your own research) and just enjoy your pet rabbit.

  2. Dwarf hamster or dwarf rabbit?

If it's a hamster, then it is proven that MOST dwarf hamsters are known to be more aggressive than your average hamster or teddy bear hamster. Either way, each individual animal has a different personality, so don't take everything word for word.

  3. They were probably mistreated at the pet store as usual and now they are scared. Please read up on proper rabbit care here

    http://www.rabbit.org/care/index.html

The pet stores usually give out poor care info.

  4. Because dwarfs are not aggressive by nature.  They are easy to feel trusted. The only time mine got aggressive is when it became 7 years old and could barely move. I mean ,gotta give a dwarf a chance when their 7!!

  5. That's no dwarf!  That's an elf!  You've been ripped off!

  6. mine never bit me...so i dont know why he would say that
