  1. I hope your using an Upconvert TV player and not a progressive scan DVD player.

Check the back of your DVD player if there is no HDMI player its not an upconvert. The hightest resolution a progessive scan player is only 480p, your TV has a resolution of 720p. So your downcoverting your picture JUST to use that DVD player.

Pick up a Upconvert DVD player AND an HDMI cable and see what you've been missing!

  2. Sounds like a bad cable. Are we talking about Component Cables (Green, Blue, Yellow) or HDMI? It sounds like one of the signals is not syncing properly, this could be from several reasons. Bad cables, poor shielding, grounding problems.

I'd start with the cable. You can cheat by using really good composite cables and matching up the red, white, yellow cables to the Green Blue Yellow connectors (just make sure they match up on both ends). Don't be surprised if that doesn't solve it because Composite cables are not generally shielded which is usually pretty important in component cables. The thicker the cables the better they usually are so find the thickest Composites you can find. If it solves it, then you'll need to buy a new set of cables. You shouldn't continue to use the composite cables.
