When i hookup my "s" video from my digatil cable box i get no sound do i need to get surround sound?

  1. You get no sound because the S-video cable is for video only(no audio)

    To get sound you need to either connect RCA jack, digital cable, or HDMI if you have it.

    In other words you need to connect some sort of audio cable to your home theater to get sound.


  2. "s" video cables only produce a video signal.  You will have to connect audio cables as well.  The red and white ports on the rear next to your "S" video cable connection.

  3. No you don't need surround sound if all you are looking for is the audio.  Your "S" video cable only caries the video signal.  In order to get the audio you will need to hook up your RCA cables (red and white) from your digital cable box to the corresponding plugs on your TV ( next to the "S" video that you are using).
