  1. It means that he doesnt like it. I used to do that to my guinea pig and she didnt like it at all. Guinea pigs dont like to be petted against their fur. No animal really does. I mean i guess every pet is different but what mine loves is when you scratch her behind her ear, or scratch her nose, or under her chin. Hope this helped.

  2. Piggies do not like having their fur petted against the way it is growing. Chances are, the sound you hear is not purring from happiness. Stick with chin scratches and ear scratches. Only pet from the back of the neck down in the direction the hair is growing. Piggies dislike being petted on the head.

  3. That means he is happy, he likes it when you pet him like that! My pigs make that noise when I feed them, pet them, or when they are just snuggling up to each other! It means he is happy!

  4. He may have skin allergies and its not fun for him to feel this, best to pet him the right way! GOOD LUCK

  5. My guinea pig makes that noise too and i can tell you this: all guinea pigs don't do it but that purring has the same meaning as a cat purring. My guinea pig makes that noise when he's happy so i agree 100% with the first top contributor.
