  1. You've got no signal.-Take it to somewhere you have a signal.

The phone display will tell you when the battery is charged up.

  2. You have to keep it plugged in all the time

This keeps it fully charged so that you can take it off the base and use it for a few hours but when you put it back on the base it charges it up again

  3. You are probably unplugging the main base unit. If its got a lead going to your phone socket you have to leave it plugged Into the mains. the base unit transmits a signal to your cordless handset,  it needs power to do it. It doesn't have rechargeable batteries in like your handset.

  4. It could be that you have not yet "registered" your cordless phone with the base unit.  Check the user guide for information on how to "register" phone to base unit.

  5. the main base unit needs to be connected to the phone line and power at all times...

if the main base is not connected to power the handset will constantly read "searching for signal", or "move closer to base" if the power is not connected to the base it can not transmit the wireless signal to the cordless phone..
