When i put my ground to my amp it starts to smoke???? HELP???

the wire that is connected to my battery i have a 40 fuse in that will that mess it up

either you have some wires touching somewhere or you may have a bad amp.   I once received a bad brand new amp from Crutchfield and had to send it back.

Recheck your wires for frays, pinches, or misconnections.  Don't continue to connect it until you figure out what's wrong if it's not too late already.  Try another amp on that same connection if everything seems okay.  If you determine the amp to be bad you may have to send it back if you have a warranty.
