Question:

When i put my laptop to sleep or on hibernate..??

ok so instead of shutting down my computer every night when i go to bed, i put it on hibernate because i heard its better for the battery. so ive been doing that for like the past month and just recently when ever i turn it back on in the morning, the battery is totally dead! it never happened before accept recently! does anyone know why it does this ? i have a sony vaio if that helps at all

  1. Make sure you leave it plugged in at night. However, turning it off vs hibernating it will not have a real difference. Hibernate saves the state of the machine, then shuts it down. When you bring it up again, it starts up from that state, loading all that info into the RAM. Sleep is just a low power mode. If you leave it sleeping at night without having it plugged in, you'll see the battery die. Just make sure it's plugged in. That's the best thing you can do for the battery. The battery dies faster if you charge it and discharge it more. If you leave it plugged in when you can, it'll last longer.
