Question:

When i run, my shoulders feel really tense, how can i prevent this?

while i am running my shoulders feel really tense and i dont know how to get them to relax...

any help?

    Not a pleasant experience, whether you're out for a fun run or in a very competitive race!

    Commonly our shoulders tighten because once we get into the run we start making fists.  Our hands tighten up, then our lower arms, then our upper arms, and finally our shoulders.

    The secret is keeping your hands relaxed (I think Nara pointed to this).  If you can keep your hands relaxed, the rest of your arm and your shoulders will "follow."

    Try making a little cup with your hands, with your fingers bent, and your thumbs lightly touching your forefinger.  Focus on doing this while running, and you'll find that your whole upper body will stay more relaxed.

  2. Always stretch them before and after you run. Also while you are running drop your arms and ahke them lose every now and again to remind your body to keep them lose.

    Than just try to focus on keeping your shoulders relax. Maybe if you visualize that you have ropes holding your shoulders down and relaxed would work. Good luck.

  3. keep your forearms close to your sides and just let your shoulders drop. just let them naturally move with u as you run. i also imagine that i'm holding a penny in my hands very softly and it helps me relax.

  5. Merely clasp yer hands behind yer back while bobbing yer head in a circle a few clockwise & then a few counter clockwise with tilts up back forward & down side to side with aggressive elbow drops downward.  Continuously extend & swing arms & shoulder musles to 'shake out' the tensions.

    My musles get tight in the shoulders while walking but clasping my hands behind my back automatically reduce neck & shoulder tension.  {I'm only runnin when derz an emergency!]

  6. i get this too sometimes but thats because im tense stretch out before a run and remember while running don't stay stiff or bring your shoulders up stay nice and loose dont have tight fists or anything drop your arms and let them move a bit more naturally
