  1. I think you should sing in your own voice. If you're going to do covers, do them the way YOU want the song to sound, not exactly how the original artist did it.

I can't stand it when people try to mimic another singer's voice. No two voices are the same, and so they will never sound alike. The only thing you do when you manipulate your voice like that is open yourself up to vocal cord injury(like, if you try to belt where a singer belts, even if it's too high for you to be belting, etc.). You don't want that.

Just sing in your own voice. If your voice is good, why are you trying to sound like someone else in the first place?

  2. Yes, every one can sing. But some can sing better. I know of people who can sing even better than professional singers.

Everyone is unique. The original singer might interpreted the song nicely but its not mean that's the best interpretation.

Take American Idol singers, do they all sounded the same from the original singers. Each handle the same song differently.

Nevertheless, there are people who are paid to be sounded alike. I recall there is a guy in HK (馮文樂 ) who can imitate quite a few HK singers.

Well its up to you. Its a choice.

  3. because you AREN'T that artist!

we were all born differently. no two people are alike.(including twins)

you have your OWN voice, embrace that! not somebody else's voice.

be more original. that's the problem with music these days. so many bands sound alike, and they aren't very creative.

be yourself, sing with your OWN voice, and be original!!!!
