  1. They will not base your tryout on your grades.  However, if you are on the cusp of making the team and barely scraping by in school it could hurt you.  They know that volleyball is a huge time commitment and need players that can afford to spend lots of time on volleyball without struggling through school.

They will most certainly base your tryout on your court knowledge.  Knowing where to go and be in position on defense is a key component of your abilities.  Also showing court smarts like tipping over a big block will score you points.

  2. no but they will look at your grades when they are doin tryouts, because the school cares more about your grades then if your playing!

So keep your grades up! =]

  3. they'll probably look at your grades to see if you made a certain average usually C+ average. but htey wont say, "oh she has an A in math, she makes the team."

  4. noway

when you tryout they just do routines and stuff like that.

i don't think they will need to look at your grades from the last year they when be looking at the grades you make in high school.

  5. no

  6. I doubt it. But realize that they can if they so choose. As a coach I think it is best for the girls to be honest and upfront with me. If you have a concern about a coach looking at your grades, before tryout simply be upfront with her. If there was a problem say something like, "You know, I know that you can look at my past grades if you so choose, and I wanted to be upfront with you, my grades aren't as good as they could be. But I really want to be on this team, and this team means enough to me to start putting more effort into my grades. I just wanted to make sure that you heard it from me first."

    Good luck!

  7. More than likely no. I'm also going from eighth grade to ninth and trying out for volleyball. Our requirements are that you must be able to run a mile in under eight minutes, show goos use of volleyball skills and show good sportsmanship and teamwork.  Hope that helps.

  8. if you are in beavercreek city schools in ohio, they look at your 4th quarter grades and if you failed more than one class then you cant play sports in the fall. they might look at the report card but im not sure, just keep your grades up.

  9. they shouldn't

  10. I tried out for volleyball as a Freshman a couple years ago...and I was defiantly worried about this.  The answer is no!  They will not base your tryout on your previous grades.  My thought is that they will have you tryout, but right before making final decisions, they will check grades. This is because they probably will want to make sure you are passing your classes...but you cannot go into the tryouts worried, just play your best and they'll see your hustle and willingness to work hard.  GOOD LUCK!    :-D

  11. NO!!!

  12. Where I live, you can try out in eighth grade for the junior varsity team. and you are eligible to try out for the varsity team in nineth grade. i don't think that they look at your grades, only if you make the team to make sure that your are eligible to play, get what I am saying?

  13. no i don't think so i mean it's a whole new year plus it's suppose to be based on how good you are in the sport itself not on how smart you are but it is important to stay on top of all your grades...

  14. um....well seing that academics dont have much to do with voleyball then  i do not think so. they might check your grades to make sure you were not failing any classes. otherwise they should just judge you on your skills.

  15. more than likely not.. but they might check your grades to make sure you passed all your classes because they don't want a player that is going to be ineligable due to grades...

  16. no i highly doubt it because all that they care is that you are good
