When i try to download a matlab file i receive the following error dialogue, how do i fix it?

C:/<filename>.m could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences.

It sounds like you are trying to download &amp; open instead of download &amp; save to disk.  Try using the latter technique, then open Matlab, change directories to where the downloaded file was saved, and then execute the script.
