When i try to install the new security update on my macbook it doesnt work

it downloads fine

but when i restart

the loading bar never moves

it just sits there

i manually shut down my computer after a few hours

and im gonna try it again later

its security update 2008-005

try it by uninstalling the present antivirus

Try uninstalling the update then do it all over again.  You should only need to shutdown your computer for about 30 seconds.  Waiting as long as you had doesn't make a difference. Try the uninstall/reinstall approach.  It's probably downloaded a bad package.
