HI

You don't have to remove the starter to get it checked... just go to any of the chain parts store's and they can check your starting system for free..

NOW ... It could be timing and it could be a low battery if it does it all the time.. if it only does it when its hot or running temp .. then it may be heat soak of the starter ( headers over heating the starter if you have after market headers).

I'm not saying if its your timing or not ,,but it could be a lazy starter ,it might be a good idea to remove it and get it checked out.

either a bad battery or like you say, your timing is set too high.
