  1. here is a removal video of antivirus2009

  2. Malware Bytes gets rid of that VERY fast. Use the free version.

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

  3. It won't be in the add/remove programs list. The scumbags that wrote it don't want you to remove it. They want to scare you into sending them money. Don't fall for it.

Since your computer probably has a ton of infections you don't know about, here is my standard cleaning procedure:

NOTE: on badly infected computers, you may have to install and run the scans from safe mode. Some programs will be actively disabled or damaged by the infections. When this happens, just pick another cleaning program until you find one which isn't knocked out. Then reboot and try some of the others. Lather, rinse and repeat until you have a clean system.

Download, install and run the following:

    (drive cleaner)

    http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_No_T...

ccleaner slim (removes junk and temp files so that the scans have fewer files to look through)

(anti-virus) Pick one, some infections disable cleaning programs, so try another until you can start removing the infections.

    Dr Web Cure it

    AVG

    AntiVIr

    Avast

If your wallpaper has been changed (and you can't change it back).

(anti-spyware) (This first group will detect and remove the worst infections. The 2nd group will clean up the stragglers).

    Superantispyware

    Malwarebytes Rouge Remover

    Malwarebytes anti-malware

    Threatfire

    spyware doctor starter edition

    ad-aware 2008

    spybot search and destroy

    Counterspy

    AVG anti-spyware

    Download and run combofix

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix...

Once you get the infections cleaned off, you have to repair the damage.

    Download, install and run

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4899.h...

    Dial-a-fix

Go through everything. This will fix a bunch of things that infections love to break. If you still have problems, (parts of windows is broken) you need to do an Windows repair install.

    Good luck

  4. What you've got is a "spyware" infection.  An explanation of what spyware is is another story, but depending on how bad it is, you may be able to sort it out yourself.  If these steps don't work, your best bet is to take the computer to a shop.

Here are the programs you want to attempt to download, update, then run, 1 at a time:

    1. Malwarebytes anti-malware

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant...

(note, you have to click a button to clean after the scan completes)

    2. Spybot Search and Destroy

    http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-De...

    3. If you want to better protect your computer in the future, pay for Webroot Spysweeper-$29, or $39 with Antivirus included

    www.webroot.com

If you do not have an up-to-date antivirus, opinions abound, but this one is free, and rather popular due to the price:

AVG Free edition (home use ONLY)

    http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe

After runing full scans with all three products, then your antivirus, reboot your computer, and run them again. If you still have issues, bite the bullet and spend some money to have it cleaned by a pro.

    Good luck!!

  5. i just have to say that after reading your question i decided to go ahead and download" Malwarebytes." on the recommendations from the other posters .... it found two 'bugs' hiding in my registry that all my other anti- adware/spy ware programs apparently were missing; I realized this because the name of them were not familiar to me and i always pay close attention to what a scan reveals .And also, yes,,' Anti-virus 2009'  is a rogue piece of software. It was just this morning that i noticed it blacklisted on either' Spy-bot 'or 'Superantispy' ( < another good program).    Good Luck      : )

  6. click start then go up to programs and see if it is there--if so sometimes it has a side bar which will say uninstall

  7. it's not listed there because antivirus2009 is a scam and it sticks on a computer like a malware. you can delete antivirus 2009 by running reputable antispyware scan. if you don't have anti-spyware on your computer, here's manual antivirus 2009 removal guide: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antiviru...
