Question:

When i turn the A/C on.The compressor is on/off by itself?

I have 99 civic.I just changed the a/c compressor,drier last week.When i turn the a/c on the compressor's on for a while and it shut off for 30 second and then it's on again for a while and it shut off for 30 second.It keep doing that and im very worry about it.Please somebody tell me what is wrong with it ? and what can i do? Help!

  1. The system may have too little or too much freon. Have it checked by a professional mechanic.If it worked fine at first and started doing it recently, may have a leak.

  4. It's called cycling, it's supposed to. If it gets cold dont do anything.

  5. the ac switch is bad.

  6. While it is normal for the compressor to cycle on and off, you may have a problem.  If there is the wrong amount of freon in the system, the high and/or low side pressure switches will tell the compressor to turn off if they see the wrong pressure.  Make sure you have the correct amount of frreon in the car.  A normal charged system at idle will have the compressor running conatanly.
