When i use Ichat audio confrence, i dont hear sounds to my IM messages help?

when i talk to my friends on Ichat audio confrences, it all of the sudden stopped the "ding" sounds letting me know i have an IM and doesnt play any sound. but my friends it still plays sound. can anyone help?

hi i used to have this same issue but what i did was i went to ichat preferences and then i pressed alerts & messages and you can fix it!
