  1. When these buses and such go by do you reassure her?  If you do, just ignore her reaction.  Make her sit and wait for the noise to pass.  Do not say anything to her or touch her.  She will learn that since you are calm about the situation that there is nothing to fear and she will calm down as well.

  2. First make sure when she walks with you that she either walks beside or behind you.  A dog that walks in front becomes the pack leader.  You must keep yourself calm and assertive.  If you tense up, she feels that tension through the leash.

When you know a bus is coming redirect her attention away from the bus.  She she starts her yelping, do not give her affection.  That will only reinforce her bad behaviour.

Check out these websites and videos from Cesar Millan (The Dog Whisperer).

  3. You can try desensitizing and counter-conditioning her to the vehicles. But this is best accomplished in tiny steps that lead up to full exposure. It doesn't work very well if you attempt it by starting out right next to the moving vehicle.

In the mean time you may want to consider walking her somewhere more peaceful (drive to a park if you must) - the screeching and yelping are her signals to you that she is distressed.

  4. Have you had hear ears checked?

If she has an infection or ear troubles the sound might be actually physically painful for her.

Aside from that, your best bet is to be calm and collected. Stop her, make her sit, and wait for whatever it is to go past. Works best if you make her sit right next to your leg, so she has some reassurance but you're not coddling her. Don't give her excessive attention, a firm and calm "shush, you're fine" (or whatever you want to say that isn't "aw poor thing") to reassure but not baby her is all you should be offering.

    Good luck!

  5. when the cars go by, ignore it because she will learn that theres nothing to worry about and that u dont give a flip about it so why should she. dont stroke her ears and tell her awww its okkk babyyy dont worry.

    she doesnt underSTAND u.

    (:

    can u help me?
